#13 – Welcoming two new babies to the family!

Hi everyone!

I hope you’ve been swell! I know it’s been half a month since my last post and I’m so sorry for that. I took a short hiatus to prepare for my final exams and you know how it is… when finals approach you place all other aspects of your life (social, work, hobbies etc.) on hold.

Me during finals week

But hey! I’m back and I’m flipping excited to be back! I’ve been itching to let my creative juices flow and show you more of what Iamennaojkim is all about.

I’d thought I’d ease back into blogging by sharing something relatively light with you all: a cute little desk buddy (or should I say buddies) that I made this evening.

I was compelled to do this DIY for several reasons!

  • I love the idea of up-cycling junk. The idea of creating chic, deco items out of something that would have probably gone straight in the recycling bin EXCOITES ME. Being able to see the beauty and potential in an object and transforming it into something beautiful is arguably the best part of DIY projects.
  • I’ve made it a personal passion project to redecorate my room in the July break. Creativity will only come if you’re surrounded by creativity. Hence the decision to decorate my room with lush greenery.
  • Greenery supposedly helps relax the mind. I’m not whether this is scientifically proven but I’m going to go with it.
  • Lastly, I hope that it inspires you to brighten your own desk situation/ your workspace! We all spend so many hours of our day at a desk and I thought this could provide some great inspo to inject a little life into your hustle corner and give your glass bottles another chance.

WHAT YOU’LL NEED: any glass bottle (I used my empty amber bottle from Aesop, and a glass juice bottle), water, plant stems

METHOD: (1) I washed out all the residual product from two glass bottles (2) Peeled off any ingredient labels (3) Filled both bottles with water (4) Placed my plant stem inside

Both bottles now sit at my desk. I’ve named the short one Jenny and the tall one Adam and they’re now my new desk buddies.

May Jenny and Adam live happily ever after x
